Moapa Motel

The rooms are pretty basic, but having the restaurant and gas station right there is handy, and it’s easy to get back on the interstate. I’ve stayed at Moapa Motel three times while traveling for work between SLC and LA over the past few months. It’s right around halfway, so it works well for breaking up the drive overnight.

The semis parked out front kept running, and I could hear them all night. The rooms are old and terrible, and there was no hot water. The attendant and desk are at the gas station next door, so don’t count on getting clean towels or much help if you stay longer than one night. The so-called corporate number is an automated AI system that nobody answers or responds through. It tells you to email, but good luck with that too.

The room was super clean, and the price is hard to beat. I’m here now, getting ready to drive about 40 minutes to Valley of fire. This also seems like a handy stop if you land late in Vegas and are heading toward Zion or nearby parks. It took me 50 minutes to get here from the rental car place at Harry Reid Airport. They texted all the information, so communication was easy. The connected gas station has what you need, including coffee. The room has an older style air conditioner and heater. We left it running so the fan could cover any noise, though I’m not saying there was much noise.

I never even got into a room, though I paid for two. I can’t comment on the rooms, but I can say this motel charged my card twice and then said I’d booked two rooms for the same night. When we arrived to sort it out, the gas station employee said they couldn’t help because it was a “third party vendor.” They gave us several numbers, but none worked or had any record of our booking. The charges appeared under two different merchant names, theirs and “hotelsone,” and VISA couldn’t resolve the dispute either. The phone number just reaches the gas station, where nobody can help. The booking links go to several “shell” sites that pass responsibility among themselves. I’d give the motel zero stars if I could. The dishonesty and customer service were absolutely horrible. Don’t stay here or give them your money, and definitely don’t book online.
