The front desk staff were nice, but the room was so dirty we left after about 30 minutes. There were bugs, stains on both beds, and a bathroom door that wouldn't shut. We booked through booking.com and asked the desk about a refund before leaving; they said there wouldn't be a dispute. Four days passed with no update or refund, and when I called again I got the runaround. booking.com followed up too, but the hotel eventually emailed to say it wouldn't refund us. The place felt horribly disorganized, and management's customer service was awful. We couldn't stay there without feeling dirty, so I'm still pursuing the refund.
The only part of the hotel we liked was the conference room. My sister and I traveled nearly 10 hours to attend a conference hosted at the Days Inn by Wyndham at 700 W I65 Service Road in Mobile, Alabama, on October 31, 2025. She had chosen the hotel for the event, and after she paid for the room, we found roaches, rust-covered fixtures, and a dirty ironing board and other unsanitary items. We went straight to the desk to ask for our money back. After several requests, the attendant called manager Cynthia, who said she'd call back. The attendant then told us, “She said there are no roaches and you have to come back Monday.” We live in different states, so that wasn't possible. Cynthia denied there were roaches and refused the refund, brushing off the cleanliness and health concerns. When we returned to check the room for evidence, the TV was on even though we hadn't touched it. I can't say for certain what happened, but I believe Cynthia called the security guard while we were away and had him go into the room to remove signs of insects. When he came to the desk, he huddled with the staff instead of speaking to us, though we were standing there. I have photos and have already contacted the company's corporate office. Refusing a refund for a room we considered uninhabitable is unacceptable. I don't trust the positive reviews about the hotel or service. The room conditions fell far short of the clean, safe lodging travelers should be able to expect.
It took more than an hour and a half to sort out, mostly because there was only one person working for much of the time. After I rejected the second room because it smelled despite being described as non-smoking, I asked the manager to cancel my reservation. She said she would, telling me, “I can’t handle this right now.” The first room wasn't ready at check-in time, so I waited 30 minutes. There was trash along the way, the room's lock was held on with electrical tape, the inside lock was broken, and the bed wasn't properly on its frame. Awful facilities and customer service.
We didn't feel safe, and the noise outside went on all day, with people walking past the door and yelling. The outside was littered with trash, and the walkways were dirty. Inside, the room was filthy: dusty curtains, food marks on the walls and ceiling, hair in the sink, an unclean tub, questionable bed stains, blood on the sheets, a sticky nightstand, and what looked like fungus growing on the nightstands. There was a huge roach on the floor too. The photos online made it look nice, but the reality was horrid. The Wi-Fi never worked, even though it was advertised. Staff just said there was nothing they could do, and the manager was always unavailable. People knocked on the door every ten minutes. We'd mentioned our dog when booking by phone, but the front desk hadn't been told, which led to more knocks and interruptions. We also said we didn't want housekeeping, yet they knocked twice within ten minutes. Questions got “I don't know” for answers. One night here was traumatizing. Please read the bad reviews and don't be fooled by the pictures.
I've traveled a lot, and this was one of the worst hotel stays I've had. My family and I drove four hours to enjoy a weekend at the Alabama beach, and the trip turned into something awful. I booked two nights, August 8 through the 10th, after trusting the online photos. The staff woman wasn't welcoming. I knew about the 24-hour cancellation rule, so we expected to stay at least one night. I paid cash for both nights, but nobody told me cash payments couldn't be refunded. The room wasn't clean. The doors were dirty, the toilet had grime, the walls and lamps were damaged, and the sheets were stained. I said I'd stay one night but wanted the second night refunded so we could move hotels. The employee told me cash was nonrefundable. When I asked for a manager, I was told she'd be there the next day. By morning, she already knew about me from the staff member. She was rude, said nothing could be done, and refused to return the money. I called corporate for feedback, and the general manager got angry that I had called. She kicked my family out and kept $73. We had gone to the beach that morning; when we returned, our two-bed room had been given to a couple. I believe she did that because I contacted corporate. It was a cruel way to treat a family. I've been a Wyndham rewards member for years, but this has made me question staying with another franchise, especially since I feel the company did nothing about what happened. I hope the staff reflect on how they treat people. I'm considering legal action because I don't think they should keep doing this to guests. The hotel needs renovation and new staff before I'd consider another Days Inn.
