Hampton Inn Mobile-I-10/Bellingrath Gardens

We had a pleasant, quick overnight visit. The room was clean, ready for us, and everything worked. It wasn't new, but it didn't feel outdated, and breakfast was tasty and well stocked. The main drawback was safety and security in the parking lot, since its lights weren't working. Even the Home2 two hotels down the road had working lot lights, so this could be improved. We arrived late using the digital key, and the front desk woman greeted us promptly with a welcome bag.

The room was clean, at least, but as a Hilton Gold member this was the worst Hampton Inn I've stayed at. It's very old and needs updating. The elevator was out, so we had to carry our bags up the stairs. There was no conditioner in the bathroom, and no place on the wall for it, which makes me think they never provide it. The tub also had a gross black ring where it needs new caulking.

The staff were really nice, and the room was clean, but I don't think the price was worth it. The bed and pillows were so uncomfortable that I couldn't sleep without getting back pain or a headache. The second-floor elevator button to go down to the first floor was broken, too. I got sick about 20 minutes after eating the hotel breakfast. The food tasted good, but it definitely gave me stomach trouble.

For what they charged, our stay didn't feel worthwhile. The room was satisfactory, but it and much of the hotel were so outdated that we questioned how clean it was. The elevator needs attention too, since we had to press UP to go down to the first floor. That's a poor first impression and another sign that management isn't focused on the guest experience. This is a below-standard Hampton Inn, surrounded by budget hotels, with few dining options nearby. Breakfast also fell short: staff attention and supplies were lacking, there was no orange juice, milk, or creamer, and the attendant left 45 minutes before service ended, leaving guests to manage on their own. Hampton Inn and Hilton need to enforce their standards, or this place may end up like the surrounding properties.
