We woke up the next morning to large cockroaches in the bed and on the pillows. The microwave looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months, there were piles of dust on the headboards and dirt rings in the toilet, and we had to go downstairs in person just to get extra bath towels. After a 16-hour drive, we felt stuck there until morning. Before that, the room had already been a mess. The smell hit as soon as I opened the door, the floors were sticky, and of the room's two sides only one had working AC. The sheets and curtains were visibly dirty and discolored, and neither the lamps nor wall lights worked, so I had to open the curtains for basic light. I tried calling the front desk, but the phone didn't work. This was nothing like the advertised KING DELUXE room I had booked. I'd called several times about early check-in and was first told no, then told it depended on how quickly housekeeping worked. I also repeatedly asked if the room would look like the website photos and was assured it would. That was plainly untrue. I went downstairs about the dirt and strong odor and was handed a key to a room another guest had just rejected and canceled after seeing it. The building's only elevator was out too, so I had to drag myself up the stairs. The second room was only a little better because its AC worked. It had no phone at all, so there was no way to reach the front desk from inside. After driving 14-16 exhausting hours from Washington, DC to Mobile for Mardi Gras, this false advertising and poor business practice nearly ruined our trip. The rooms were unsanitary, the facilities weren't maintained, and basic cleanliness was ignored. I'm demanding a FULL refund. No guest should have to put up with this, especially on Valentine’s Day after traveling that far.

After 14 hours on the road, I walked into a room with stained sheets and pillowcases, dirt in the bedding, pubic hair in the tub, moldy trash on the closet shelves, and old shampoo spilled across the bathroom counter and floor. I brought it to the front desk, and they quickly told me it wasn't their problem because I'd booked through a third party and I should take it up with them. Rudest, nastiest hotel I've ever been in. If I could give zero stars, I would. Avoid it at all costs.

The front desk attendants were kind and helpful as far as they could be, and they processed a refund for one room. Everything else about the hotel was undesirable. We prepaid for two rooms on each of two weekends while traveling through Mobile to Texas and back. On the first night, one room had hair on the toilet and stains on the sheets, blankets, and towels, though the linens had at least been washed. The other room was impossible to stay in, with dog pee on the floor, something smeared on the mirror, and hair and poop stains in the toilet. We had to come back through on the way home, and tried again because we'd prepaid for that night and it was supposedly non-refundable. I told the desk about the problems, and they gave me three keys so I could inspect rooms. The first had brown water and actual poop in the toilet. The second was the same room from the week before, still with dog pee, the smeared mirror, and stained towels and bedding. It didn't look like anyone had cleaned it. The third had gunk on the walls, dried liquid stains on the floor, and stained bedding. I told the front desk we couldn't stay and would have to keep driving home through the night. We chose Red Roof because it took dogs, including large ones like our Greyhounds, and most hotels limit dog sizes. We called around and ended up at the Holiday Inn around the corner, where we had a great stay and will return. I travel a lot and have never stayed in a hotel this dirty. The Red Roof staff were friendly and apologetic.

There were only two bath towels for our three people, even with two queen beds, and nobody mentioned at check-in that we'd need to ask for more. I had to go downstairs to get another set. At checkout, we couldn't get a receipt because the printer wasn't working properly, though it had worked when I signed in. The room was nasty and smelled like someone had dumped bleach on the floor. The bedspreads had gray stains, and the pillowcases were so worn they weren't white anymore, with one stained. Nobody had cleaned the corners, the areas around the trash can and desk, or behind the toilet and TV. The shower curtain was moldy and disgusting, a serious problem for people with asthma or breathing issues, and the bath mat was badly stained. This is the worst Red Roof Inn we've stayed at, and we travel a lot. I'll never stay there again.

Only two sets were allowed per room, and the whole motel had run out of extra towels, even though we had booked for three people. The bugs might be unavoidable, I get that, but my pillowcase was the dingiest in the hotel. Bring your own pillowcase, towels, and dignity. Stay somewhere else until they update, upgrade, or demolish this place.
