The room was quiet at night, though I had some trouble with the AC heater. Our non-smoking room smelled strongly of cigarettes, and I saw other guests smoking openly in their rooms with the doors open. The hot tub was cold. Still, the hotel met our needs and I'd recommend it. Best Western felt like a good middle ground, with a newer hotel next door if you want something more upscale and a motel across the street for a more downscale option. It was well located for visiting family, close to the mall, coffee shops, and restaurants. After a full day of flights and driving, we arrived late, and Kym went out of her way to make sure we had what we needed to be comfortable. She was friendly and helpful, as were the people I spoke with when I called. Breakfast was convenient and a treat, the beds were comfortable, and the showers got nice and hot. The grounds were dated but quaint and cared for. Housekeeping staff were friendly and efficient.

After the long drive from San Jose, I got to the hotel needing to use the restroom. The woman at the counter was very rude. My 92-year-old mother needed insulin, but the woman wouldn't let me use the restroom, ran in front of me, and locked the door. The service I got earlier while looking for a booking in Modesto had been great.

It was a terrible experience. The lobby was being fully renovated, there was only one working ice machine, and the pool was a mess. The hot tub jets didn't work, and I think it was heated only by the sun. Breakfast was advertised, but there wasn't any. Expedia should do a better job checking that what's posted is actually available.

There don't seem to be any parking rules enforced. People park carelessly and take up multiple spaces, so when you arrive at night it's hard to find a decent spot. They really need to enforce some rules.

For the price, this is one of the better places to stay in Modesto. The front desk shared helpful information, and KYm was the highlight of the day. She helped us and got us checked in with such a great attitude. I'll definitely stay here again in the future.
