Best Western Desert Winds

I appreciate management checking the room and responding to my concerns, but my review is about the stay I actually had. The water stayed lukewarm even with the faucet fully turned to hot. Maybe it gets hotter when other guests aren't using water, but that's not ideal. The main room light flickered, and other guests have reported trouble with the A/C screen too, so it wasn't just me. The room felt dated and the beds were uncomfortable. Some lights had twist switches, the air conditioner panels were broken and slow to respond, and some motion sensor lights were awkward. The pool's cheesy LED colors seemed to flicker like the bedroom light. Staff at the front were friendly and check-in was simple. The location near Dennys and a gas station seems handy, though this is the desert. I was on the second floor and nearly hit my head on the stairs at six feet tall, so taller people should watch out. The hot tub pump was loud enough that I imagine it carries to all the rooms. It's near a busy road, though traffic noise wasn't much of an issue. It may be one of the better places around here, but compared with the other Best Westerns and budget hotels I've stayed at, this was one of the worst Best Western hotels for me, and close to the worst in general. The same dated fixtures, uncomfortable beds, slow, broken A/C panels, awkward sensors, flickering lights, lukewarm showers, and flashy pool lights made for a rough stay. I also found the hot tub pump loud. The front desk people were nice and check-in was easy, and the road wasn't too noisy. Still, this is one of the worst Best Western hotels I've stayed at, even if it might be among the better options locally.

On our way south to San Diego, we stayed at Best Western Desert Winds, then booked it again on the trip home. The rooms were clean, so we left a tip for the housekeeping crew. Shower pressure was low in the first room and adequate in the second. Mojave is a desert railroad town, but the hotel did a good job keeping the passing trains quieter inside. The rooms worked fine for a road-trip stop.

Breakfast was outstanding, and Ma Xochit kept everything clean and in order while being so attentive and pleasant. At checkout, Carina was bright and professional. Timothy at the front desk was also welcoming and very professional, and my room was spacious and extremely clean. I was pleasantly surprised and highly recommend this hotel.

The complimentary breakfast was a nice surprise, with plenty of choices. Staff were very friendly, and the room was clean. You could hear a few loud trains, but it wasn't too bad.
