La Quinta Inn Moline Airport

I left a jade necklace behind by accident. I called the hotel several times and asked the police to help, but kept being told that it hadn’t been found. I drove five hours back to sort it out, and after more checking with help from a staff member, it turned up in the laundry room, where a staff member had set it aside. I’m deeply concerned that management and staff denied finding it at first and dismissed both my questions and the police’s until it was recovered. I documented the incident with the Moline Police Department, Case #M026-03043. I’m sharing this so future guests will be extra careful with their valuables here.

The front desk woman was great, polite, and helpful. The price was cheap, so I wasn’t expecting much, but I did expect the place to be clean. Instead, the whole property smelled like smoke and felt more like a weekly-rate motel than somewhere I’d want to stay again. The floors seemed to ooze up through the planks when I walked on them. The chair was broken, and the tables looked like they had “stuff” on them. I tried wiping them down, but it seemed more like burns or damage. The shower head sprayed into the wall, and the tub drained so slowly you could shower and take a bath at the same time. The flooring by the tub looked nasty. Breakfast had options, but it was bleh, with watered-down syrup and orange juice. I got what I paid for, but that still wasn’t clean.

The hotel is showing its age, so don’t expect it to look new, and the carpet in the hallway wasn’t very clean. For the price, though, it seemed fair, you get what you pay for. Our room didn’t have any cleanliness issues, and seeing no bed bugs, cockroaches, or ants was reassuring. The staff were polite and hospitable, and we felt welcome from the start.

Renovations were happening, but our room was clean and the staff were really nice and accommodating. We checked in late with our three service dogs and had no trouble checking in or out. Great stay and great price.
