Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Monahans

The staff were excellent, and I felt safe there. The freeway noise was really loud, and locals with very loud cars drag-raced in the parking lot next door, though they stopped at 9 p.m. The sheets were threadbare.

The second room smelled like sewage, and since it was past midnight, I would have asked for a refund and gone somewhere else if it had been earlier. In the first room, I lifted the top sheet and found cookie crumbs and hair on the bed. At the front desk, the woman acted like it was no big deal and asked if I wanted to switch rooms. The bed had been made without the sheets being changed. I think anyone, including her, would want a different room. I usually don’t stay at Fairfield because it tends to be Motel 6 with new carpet, but I thought this newer one might be better. I was wrong.

The workout room was nice, and the hotel is right next to the event center. It was very quiet, except for some passionate moaning from the neighbor at 7 a.m. The staff told me it gets very busy when events are on.

The front desk staff were awesome, and the housekeeping team really does their best to keep the rooms clean. I’d highly recommend staying here in Monahans.
