That breakfast story still sums the place up for me. My wife’s French toast sticks were so hard that her little plastic fork kept snapping while she tried to eat them. After three or four broken forks, I told her to just pick one up and tackle it. We stayed here on September 1, 2023, and it was awful. I hoped things might have improved, but looking at the reviews before a possible return to West Texas, it seems they haven’t changed in more than two years. I’m a retired Hilton Honors member who travels a lot, and I can only guess this is a franchise, since most Hampton Hotels are excellent. It feels like management either doesn’t care or doesn’t know how to run a real hotel. I’d tell the manager to try for a job at Motel 6. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Don’t stay here.

The breakfast was good, and the attendant was fantastic. She really got the day started on a positive note. The rooms were about what I expect from a budget Hilton. But upkeep is a real problem: the ice machine has been broken since November, except for the one on the fourth floor, which only helps if you’re staying up there. One of the elevators has also been out since early January. Staff know about it, but don’t seem able to get management to act. The lack of attention to the amenities is awful.

The correct address is 2021 South Ilda Avenue, Monahans, TX 79756. We stayed one night with the kids. The hotel is a little isolated, but it’s in great shape and the staff were great. The pool wasn’t usable, though, because the water was dirty.

The staff were really nice, and breakfast was great. The internet, though, was absolutely terrible. It barely downloaded a few KB per second. They offered a faster connection for $5 a day, but even that only got to around 2 MB. In 2025, that’s hard to excuse. Those were the two things that earned stars from me, one for the people and one for breakfast. Everything else was pretty awful, so I’m giving it two stars.

The rooms were consistently clean and the hotel was well kept. The front desk was also friendly and helpful. Breakfast was the one real letdown: by about 6:30 in the morning there was no food left and nobody was making more, the juice machine was broken, and the seating was really uncomfortable. When I came in at night, the hot water for tea and hot chocolate was cold, too. Even with those breakfast issues, I’d stay here again.
