Hilton Garden Inn Tulsa Airport

Dinner was my favorite part. Jacob took great care of me from the moment we met until I left, and the burger was possibly one of the best two I've ever had. Compliments to the chef, who I think is Doreen, though I could be mistaken. The staff really make this place stand out, even for a one-night stay. The airport is so close you can walk there, and parking is free. The room was fine, the price was lower than most airport hotels, and while it isn't fancy, it's certainly not bad. Everyone on staff was very friendly, like someone on their first day who really wanted to make a good impression. The pool was out of service when I was there.

I was waiting in my car outside for less than five minutes when the person running the Hilton shuttle told me to wait for my friend at another business, even though plenty of parking spaces were open. He kept watching me, which felt scary. He's a grown man, and I'm a small girl. I called the front desk to check whether I could wait there for no more than ten minutes, and the employee was rude and hung up on me.

The hallways were dirty, the elevator felt shabby, and the hotel clearly needs a lot of work. Our first room smelled bad and had a hole in the wall under the bathroom sink, a bathroom light coming loose, torn curtains, towels with holes, a tub that wouldn't drain, and candy left under the bed by a previous guest. After we asked to switch rooms for the second night, we were called the day after checkout and told it had been changed. When we returned that night, though, they tried to give us the same room and said the replacement had been given away. We took a king bed for my son and me just to get out of the first room. It squeaked badly, was hard as a board, and smelled odd too, but we put up with it. The next morning, the original employee who said she'd switched our room told us she expected us to come get the new key right away. I don't believe her. I've worked at a hotel, and once a room is switched, it's settled; you don't take it back. We were visiting a sick family member, not hanging around the hotel all day. If we had to get the key right away, why didn't she say so? The service was poor, and the staff acted like they hated their jobs. I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all.

After I finally got breakfast, things went downhill fast. I had breakfast included, but someone swore at me for coming down to eat. Management needs to take a look at the kitchen and how it's run. Dinner wasn't great either: my sandwich fell apart, and the chicken was a little undercooked, ha. Service there started with a 22-minute wait just to be greeted and told I could sit wherever I liked. The drink options were limited, and after waiting 30 minutes while playing the bartender's this-or-that game, there were only about three beers to choose from. My drink took another 30 minutes to arrive. Once I was seated with it, a different server was attentive and got my order exactly right. I flew in just in time for dinner on May 19th, and the desk agent was pleasant enough and got me a room key quickly. The room was okay but a bit dark, and it took three attempts to get a working coffeemaker.
