Sleep Inn & Suites Monroe - Woodbury

Everything felt quiet, including the lobby, and the property sits in a peaceful spot. I slept well in the comfortable bed. The staff were polite and handled things well, and cleanliness clearly matters here because the whole place was very, very clean. I really liked the atmosphere and would consider it a reliable place to stay.

They called afterward to check that everything was okay, which was a nice touch. At check-in, the front desk woman was really nice and greeted us with cookies and hot chocolate. Our room was clean and the bed was comfy. This is where we’ll stay from now on when we visit Woodbury Commons.

The breakfast was a nice inclusion for a hotel in this price range, with a slightly different hot-food selection each morning. We had combinations of eggs, sausage or bacon, plus bagels, bread, muffins, waffles, cereal, apples, bananas, watermelon, and hard-boiled eggs, I think. There was a slow vanilla yogurt machine I’d never seen before, but the yogurt was fine, and packaged yogurt was available too. The staff were extremely nice, and we happened to catch the afternoon lobby cookies one day, which were nice as well. We’ll definitely return when visiting relatives nearby. We stayed three nights in mid-September, two adults in a large king room. The walk-in shower was great, though a little water leaked onto the floor from its bottom. The hotel is several years old and shows a bit more wear than when we last visited over two years ago, but the furnishings and common areas remain in good shape, and everything was very clean. The main room was well lit, while the bathroom sink area could use more light. There weren’t any USB outlets, though several 110v outlets were easy to reach.

We stayed for 17 days, and more than half the time our room wasn’t cleaned or serviced. I asked for daily service during the first week, but it happened only once or twice. After several trips to the front desk, it seemed to improve for most of the next week, then stopped again during the last few days. Dirty towels piled up, the trash cans stayed full, and the beds weren’t made. I even left a $10 tip with a note asking for fresh sheets and bedding. The money was taken, but the sheets definitely weren’t changed. We were moved to a suite because the shower in our original room leaked and left puddles all over the bathroom floor. We’d been out all day and kept coming back to problems, and moving all our things was the last thing we wanted, but we needed a usable shower. The manager on duty the morning of Tuesday, December 30th, was very rude and unprofessional. She said, “and the maid will be fired for this.” After I left, I called, and the same manager hung up while I was talking. Is that how you run your business?
