Monroeville Plaza Hotel

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It was a bit of a walk to the pool and breakfast lounge, but the exercise was fine. We stayed three nights with our 3-year-old, and the staff helped with anything we needed. Dinner at the restaurant was good, with great service, and breakfast was fresh and tasty. The pool was clean too.

The breakfast situation was a mess. Food ran out before everyone had a chance to eat, and a staff member was telling people where they could sit. The rooms themselves were nice. I heard Best Western had bought the place, so maybe more improvements are coming.

The beds were comfortable, and the hotel was quiet, with easy access to the turnpike and freeways. For the price I found on Orbitz while visiting family, it was decent, and I'd consider trying it again after things settle down. It was formerly the Holiday Inn and is now called Monroeville Plaza hotel; renovations seemed to be underway, and I was told it would become a Best Western. Check-in went smoothly, and staff pointed out the bar, pool, and exercise room. My room was clean and had a TV, microwave, coffee maker, and fridge, though no safe. I stayed two nights, but housekeeping skipped the room on the first night. I left a pizza box outside, which may have been a signal, but I got no cleaning, bed-making, or fresh cups. When I asked for towels and coffee cups that afternoon, they never arrived. I also noticed toilet paper and towels hanging outside other doors, so it may not have just been me. The exercise room's built-in TV screens didn't work. Staff were only somewhat attentive, and customer service could improve.

My weekend was ruined. I booked a week ahead, drove all the way there, and found a sign at check-in saying they'd be back in two minutes. When the woman returned, she said the room I'd requested wasn't available. She shrugged and said she only worked there one day a week and didn't know why. I asked why they hadn't called me, and she said they'd tried a little while earlier but nobody answered. My phone never rang, and there was no voicemail either. Completely unprofessional. I wouldn't stay there again.
