Candlewood Suites Houston NE - Stafford by IHG

We’ve been back a couple of times, and the kitchens are a big reason why. They’re full, functional, and, dare we say, beautiful. The rooms were clean and inviting, and the staff courteous. The details worked too, from the warm light fixtures and AC to the backlit bathroom mirrors and ice machines on every floor. You can tell the owner cares about making the stay pleasant. Even the landscaped beds out front were well maintained. We’ve had great visits and appreciate the owner and management.

I nearly cancelled after reading the reviews, but I’m glad I gave the place a chance. The other guests made it feel a little sketchy as we walked in, but the room met my expectations. It was clean, the bed was comfy, and they had what we needed. The pool could’ve used a cleaning, though we still enjoyed it. There’s also a barbecue area, but we didn’t use the other amenities. I’d stay again.

The room smelled like fish, and somehow the bathroom smelled better. The shower water came out so slowly I can spit faster. Half the lights wouldn’t turn on, and the bed could only fit half a normal sized person. Run.

Both rooms I checked into were crawling with roaches. I went straight to the front desk for a full refund, and the clerk said they’d process one, but I still haven’t got it. After looking into it, I found they’d only offered a partial refund on one room. Hotels.com couldn’t get it sorted out either. Terrible service. I don’t recommend this place and won’t stay there again.
