For the price and location, I wasn't expecting much. I paid about $42 a night through some hotel search site I can't remember. Booking direct would've cost $20-25 more per night. There's a good eatery and bar about 60 feet away, plus a laundromat in the same plaza. A little bathroom paint peeling or a clogged, nonworking fan didn't bother me. But the rooms and linens need a thorough clean. That's the bare minimum, and they weren't meeting it. I stayed six days in a non-smoking second-floor room for work and to see friends. It smelled like a smoking room that hadn't been properly aired out before being relabeled. The wood floors weren't clean when I arrived, so wear socks or slippers. Housekeeping seemed to do the bare minimum. On the first of the two cleanings, I had to ask for fresh sheets and pillowcases. I wasn't there for the second, but the sheets weren't changed, so I doubt they mopped properly either. The clean linens looked dingy, like they use basic detergent without chlorine bleach. I bought my own bath and hand towels and sprayed the sheets with Lysol, then let them air-dry. If they'd clean the floors with actual floor cleaner instead of plain water and use better detergent for the linens, this might have been a solid 3-3.5 stars.

The front desk staff were polite and helpful, but that couldn't make up for the poor condition of the property. My stay at Rodeway Inn Monroeville-Pittsburgh was the worst hotel experience I've had. The room was in serious disrepair: broken flooring, a shower that was nearly impossible to operate, a heater that didn't work at all, and mold throughout the room and on the shower curtains. Spending the night in freezing conditions was frustrating. Outside, half the parking lot was still uncleared, even though the last snowfall had been more than 11 days earlier, creating a safety concern. I consider the maintenance and grounds serious health and safety risks, and the hotel needs a thorough professional inspection. Travelers should look elsewhere until management addresses these failures. I want my full refund, as stated in my review dated 2/4/26.

Just a heads up from my awful stay this past week: I spent five nights in room 216 and got a bite on my leg the second night. By the fourth night I had several on my arms and legs, and I believe they were bed bug bites. The sheets didn't seem clean, though I thought I might be overreacting at first. Cleaning staff cut corners, and the guests were loud. I complained about the man screaming next door, but nothing was done. I never asked for a discount or anything, just sharing this as a warning.

Lots of places to eat and shop nearby, and the prices are good. The employees are super nice, the place is clean, and the internet is amazing. I'd give it five stars.

The one great part of our stay, as always, was Charlie and his family. My sister, grandson, and I came for the October 10th-12th weekend, and we've stayed here for years. We absolutely adore Charlie and his family. He has always been wonderful to us, and I highly recommend him and the hotel to anyone. Thanks, Charlie, for welcoming us and doing your part. We'll see you in the spring. God bless you. Housekeeping was absolutely horrible, though. The microwave and fridge were dirty inside, the bathroom hadn't been cleaned, and the previous guests' used soap was still in the shower. When I pulled down the bedding, the linens were dirty too. I told Charlie the next morning, and he immediately contacted a housekeeper to take care of it properly. We thought it was sorted, so I took my grandson to the amusement park for the day and evening. When we got back late, all they'd done was change the trash, bring fresh towels, and remake the beds with the same dirty linens. I'm not a happy guest. The room was registered under my sister's name, Tracy Turner. This isn't meant to make Charlie look bad, but housekeeping needs to improve and stop being lazy about the job.
