SpringHill Suites by Marriott Pittsburgh Monroeville

We love the homey, festive feel they create for a holiday away from home with our two children. Each year's theme is always cute. This is our second year coming for a holiday, and they've been very accommodating. Brenda at the front desks was patient, sweet, and helpful. Thanks for having us!

The staff were really friendly, and free breakfast is a nice perk. But the room was nowhere near the best Marriott I've stayed in. This hotel is older, and it shows: the TV was tiny, the bathroom was worn down, and the toilet had trouble flushing.

Getting into the room took about 25 tries because the door card readers are so old. Our room was right by the turnpike toll booth, which made it pretty loud. The shower was also in rough shape.

Staff were polite and did try to help, but the hotel seemed short-handed, and the stay felt lackluster. Our room was large and stayed nice and cool, which I liked. It's also close to Pittsburgh and Kennywood, where we went. Breakfast is included, there's an indoor pool, and on Saturday night they gave out complimentary chips and salsa with nacho cheese. Cleanliness let things down. The bathroom shower still had hair from the previous guest, and the hallways, elevator, trash cans, and breakfast area needed more attention. Breakfast on Sunday was disappointing, with little food available and long waits for refills. I suspect staffing was part of it. There was just one slow elevator, the pool hours were a bit limited, and we had to replace our key card after every two or three uses. For me, it's a two out of five. Over $200 a night for the suite felt like a stretch for what we got, though we found a discount code that brought it down to exactly $200. I've stayed in much nicer places for the same price or less.
