The welcome was my favorite part. Dede greeted both me and my dog so warmly, and this really is a dog-friendly place. I was there in mid-February, when it was quiet season, and ended up with the whole Inn to myself. They kindly upgraded me to a lovely king room. I loved wandering around the little Victorian village with my dog. The old houses and grounds have so much charm, even in winter. Inside, it’s an antique lover’s dream, from the paintings and decor to those creaky wood floors. There’s historic character everywhere. My room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and there were lots of pillow styles to choose from. I also enjoyed a long soak in the clawfoot tub. For dinner, I picked up a steak from a local restaurant Dede recommended, then ate by myself in the quaint sitting room. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, with perfectly cooked bacon and the overeasy eggs I’d asked for. Google Maps got me there without any trouble, and the host’s welcome email had more detailed directions too. I left feeling so happy and will definitely come back. Highly recommend!

The breakfasts were great, and the peaceful surroundings made it easy to relax. Every room has its own mix of historic beauty, whimsical art, and fun furniture. De De and the staff were warm and friendly, and I felt right at home. It’s hard to imagine not having a perfect stay here.

We’d never tried a Bed & Breakfast, so weren’t sure what to expect. Check-in turned out to be very easy, and the room was clean with comfortable bedding. Breakfast was freshly made and delicious the next morning. There’s a lot of interesting history around the area too. It was a pleasant surprise.

The made-to-order full breakfast was delicious, and Dee Dee, Carey, and the rest of the staff took great care of us. The house has an old-fashioned feel, with plenty of history and charm, plus a bit of modern comfort like a flat-screen HDTV. Intrepid the housecat was friendly too. It felt like a home away from home. Book it.

When the smell of breakfast drifted upstairs, I felt like I was waking up at my mother’s, and she wasn’t upset with me anymore for not becoming a dentist. The bacon was crisp at its peak, alongside scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese. Leaving the Monteagle Assembly gate, I saw cars heading off in different directions, a woman in a minivan with a light blue shower cap, a man talking on his cell phone in a new car, and a teenager who’d just gotten her license. I felt sad for all of them, since they weren’t staying at the Edgeworth Inn. I’m driving to the Sewanee Reunion and hope it’ll lift that sadness about these good people missing out on the Edgeworth Inn.
