Mountain Inn

I was traveling home from Kentucky and stopped because of the weather, after being stuck on the interstate for so long. The location right off the highway was a real plus, and I was grateful they had a room. My sweetheart had called ahead to check. The front desk lady was professional, but I still had to wait while she cleaned the room before I could go in. With the “discount” for calling ahead, the total was $85. There wasn’t much decor or in-room equipment. The room had a fridge, a 24-inch TV, and a small coffee maker. The smell was overwhelming and unpleasant, though I’ve encountered worse. I wouldn’t recommend this unless it’s a last resort. For the price and what you get, I think there are better options.

They’re renovating, so there’s some old, dirty furniture around, and they forgot the soap and shampoo. The remote had no batteries. Still, the room was decent, with some new flooring and a new sink and tub. Wi-Fi and TV were good, and the fridge and microwave worked fine. If saving $20-$30 is worth a little inconvenience while they keep fixing things up, it’s a reasonable stay. Otherwise, it may be pretty nice in a few months.

The bed was great, the room was clean, the hot water had good pressure, and the staff were friendly. It’s pet-friendly too. But there was only one set of towels for two people in a two-bed room, and the shampoo and conditioner looked used, just wiped off. At 10 a.m., the cleaning lady knocked once and opened the door. Checkout was at 11, and we’d paid through the next day.

We stayed at the Mountain Inn behind Super 8. It has the same owner, parking lot, and phone number. The sheets had urine, crayon, and blood on them. There were used napkins in a drawer, liquid streaks on the uncleaned mirror, and toothpaste spots on the faucet. The microwave was rusty and missing its tray, and the coffee cups had been used. We paid for a double bed and got two towels and two washcloths for four people. They were supposed to be white but were black. When we asked the woman at the desk for more, she knew there were four of us and said we’d have to pay for extra towels. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had. We slept on top of the covers because we were scared of bed bugs.
