Blu Pacific Hotel

The room was clean and good quality for the price, and Michelle at reception really made our stay in Monterrey. She was friendly, helpful, and had great recommendations. Highly recommend this hotel!

The rooms were clean, and we never seemed to run out of hot water. I came for a few days in August and appreciated finding a reasonably priced place so close to the ocean. It's a great location for visiting Monterey. One thing to bear in mind: with the city's density, parking could be a problem on weekends if you arrive in separate cars while sharing a room. I came from Fresno and my family drove up the coast from L.A. Apart from that snag, I'd certainly stay here again when I visit Monterey.

The room was small, but clean and cozy, with a big bathroom. Check-in and checkout were easy, and everyone I spoke to at the front desk was great. Complimentary coffee and tea, including decaf, was a nice touch. It was quite nice, so I don't know why this place has so many unhappy reviews. It did get a bit noisy. A plane flew overhead now and then, and one night we could hear a rock cover band playing nearby until around 9:30. If you're a light sleeper or go to bed early, that may be an issue. For a comfortable place to come back to after exploring, though, it worked great.

There's not much within walking distance except a Denny's restaurant. This is a basic motel without extra amenities, but it's close to the airport and Highway 1, making it convenient for flights and getting to local attractions. It sits under the flight path, though few large planes come and go, and there aren't any after midnight, so the noise wasn't a problem.
