Monterey Oceanside Inn

The room felt like a low-quality Motel 6 for $154 a night on booking.com. Things were falling apart, the fridge was loose, its freezer door was broken, and the shower dripped all night. The TV only had basic channels and a broken remote, which wasn't good with a child. I wish there'd been a smart TV so the kids could watch their programs. I would've rather paid $200 for a better-maintained room. I also wanted a door that actually locked so my son couldn't just open it to the parking lot. Definitely wouldn't recommend this for a family with small children.

It's a cute, simple, cozy inn with the basics, so don't expect anything fancy. There's a mini fridge but no microwave, the ice machine is outside, and there's no breakfast. The uncarpeted floors were a bit cold. Still, it was clean, the shower got nice and hot, the AC worked wonderfully, and the TV worked. That's all I needed for two nights. Parking is pretty cramped, with smaller-than-usual spaces, so it can be tricky if you don't have a small vehicle.

The rooms are small, the beds are hard, and parking is extremely limited. In the handicap unit, I had to move a bed just to get to the bathroom. It's not good.

I just needed an inexpensive place to sleep, and this was great value for the money. The room was clean, smelled fresh, and had no carpet, which I appreciate in a cheap motel. The shower was piping hot with good pressure, and the heater quickly brought the room to the temperature I wanted. There was a mini fridge, and the guy at the desk kindly gave me drinking water. Best value in town!
