Joan welcomes guests from all backgrounds and will try to work around dietary restrictions. Ask her about the house's history and her childhood here, when it was a dairy farm. The bed and breakfast is charming and comfortable, with well-appointed rooms. Breakfast is hearty and gives you a good start for a day exploring the Hudson Valley.

Joan Buck Smith made us delicious, nutritious breakfasts, beautifully served each morning, and she's a wonderful guide and knowledgeable local historian. She's lived in the area most of her life and can direct you just about anywhere. The friendly cats, Sunshine and Lucy, add to the atmosphere. Our family had a wonderful long weekend at Buck's Homestead, where we reserved all three rooms. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and clean, with antiques and handmade quilts. We highly recommend it and look forward to visiting again.

Joan has put her own touch throughout the house, with family antiques and lots of care in the decor. My husband and I had a lovely weekend there. The room was spotless and comfortable, and the bathroom had everything we needed.

Getting around Montgomery and the nearby area was easy from here. We had a lovely stay, Joan made tasty breakfasts, and the cats were adorable.
