Holiday Inn Express & Suites Montgomery by IHG

The hotel's amenities were good, including breakfast, drinks, laundry, and parking. My first stay here was still only partly satisfying. The shower head was terrible, the cleaning missed details, and the bed sheet was stained. Another guest microwaved a McDonald’s wrapper and set off a fire alarm. Local emergency services responded quickly, which I appreciated, though standing outside in the cold wasn't fun. Better safe than sorry. I emailed the general manager last week about my concerns and hope to hear back.

This feels like a typical older HI Express. It was mostly clean, though some upkeep is needed. A full remodel isn't necessary, but a few worn and broken furnishings should be replaced. The shower drained so poorly that it turned into more of a shower-bath. If you like a really firm bed, you'll sleep well.

The rooms are wildly overpriced for what you get. The carpets are stained, every TV had white dots all over the screen, and the bathrooms were disgusting, with mold and a mildew smell in the rooms. Even the soap dispensers looked visibly dirty, like they aren't cleaned. The rooms aren't worth any of the money I paid. The staff were extremely rude. I saw managers smoking weed in the car and being rude to customers, talking to people like they were stupid. The big boss had an attitude too. By far the worst hotel I've stayed at. I wouldn't recommend this dump to anybody.

There are plenty of restaurants and even a supermarket within a mile. The rooms are clean and updated, and the staff were wonderfully helpful, always greeting us. I'd absolutely stay here again, 10/10.
