Jim made everything easy, from taking my phone reservation for the Magnolia Suite to keeping in touch before we arrived and getting us checked in smoothly. The property and suite were lovely. He also suggested restaurants and things to do, and we enjoyed the Capital Oyster Bar and everything Montgomery has to offer, especially its rich Civil Rights history. Coming back in the evening to fresh-baked banana bread was such a nice treat. Breakfast was a delicious gourmet meal the next morning, and the conversation made for a lovely start to the day. Jim and Montgomery gave us such a warm welcome. We’ll be back!

A really tidy, quiet, private place, and a nice spot to unwind with a book. The host is good about explaining everything up front, with no surprises. My friends suggested keeping his two cats upstairs in the living area, and adding candles outside to keep bugs away. Those seem like easy fixes. Otherwise, guests should be impressed.

We won’t forget how Jim looked after us when I had a health problem soon after we arrived and needed to go to the emergency room. He drove there in his own car while we followed to make sure we got there safely. When I returned to the Lattice Inn at 2:30AM, he was still awake and waiting, and offered to make me something to eat because he knew I’d missed dinner. The visit turned out to be nothing serious, but Jim’s kindness and generosity went far beyond what you’d expect from a B and B host.

Jim knows a lot and is a perfect southern gentleman. We found this welcoming little inn when we needed a B&B at short notice. It’s close to good places to eat, Pine Bar, and pretty much everything downtown, at most an 8-minute trip. We’ll definitely come back.

Jim was incredibly thoughtful, even staying up late to let me in after my flight was delayed and setting out banana bread since I’d missed dinner. Breakfast came with a huge number of choices, and he also emailed restaurant and sightseeing ideas. Around the Inn, there were brochures and framed newspaper clippings about local culture, architecture, and history. The building fits in with the historic neighborhood outside, but the inside has been completely redone. My room was spotless, with a big, sturdy bed. I think I had the smallest room in the house, and it still seemed strong enough to land a helicopter on. I worried about the cats, but over two days I saw no cat hair at all, just an empty dish in the kitchen that I accidentally stepped into. There were fresh newspapers, Wi-Fi, plenty of bath towels, a personal breakfast menu, and soda in the fridge. I don’t think you could get better service or surroundings for twice the price at even the best downtown hotels. I’d happily stay again if I get the chance.
