Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa at the Convention Center

The room was spacious and clean, with a sitting area, two TVs, a safe, and an iron. I liked having both a bathtub and a walk-in shower, and the housekeeping team, CAROLINe, APRIL, and NIEWE, did a great job. From the 12th-floor lounge, there was a view over the riverfront. Its smaller buffet had yogurt, fruit, canned drinks, coffee, and tea, while the main restaurant's breakfast buffet included local sausage, crisp bacon, eggs, and pancakes and waffles made to order. BRITANIA helped me at the front desk several times, and SANDY was friendly in the lounge. I'm a longtime Marriott BonVoy member and got a suite upgrade with lounge access. I enjoyed my three days at the Renaissance. It has quality features, good service, and nice design. The lobby restrooms are accessible, with two grab bars and a 5-by-5-foot space, though the hotel's front doors are extremely heavy. There is van-accessible valet parking or street parking through an app.

The river view was nice, and the walking and running track on the 8th-floor pool deck was amazing and felt very safe. I didn't have time to try the spa. The plumbing and water temperature were inconsistent, the vanity was dirty and worn, and the old pillows were flat and squishy. Some firm, lofty, feather-free pillows would be a welcome option.

The hotel restaurant surprised me, since I usually avoid eating at hotel restaurants. The food was very good, and the waitstaff were especially kind and accommodating. There was live music at night, too. I was here for the professional agricultural workers conference and had a beautiful suite on the ninth floor overlooking the river. It was spotless and nicely arranged, with a great view. I loved having a bathtub separate from the shower. The conference space is huge, and I learned while walking around that the site is also the performing arts center. A fantastic place to stay if you're in the area. I hope I can come back.

We stayed one night before the Iron Bowl. The hotel staff were friendly, and there was plenty of security around to help keep everyone safe. Parking was easy, the room was clean and comfortable, and the third-floor view wasn't bad. The food prepared by the hotel was top notch. There just wasn't much to do in downtown Montgomery.
