Hilton Garden Inn Montgomery - EastChase

For 11 nights on a business trip, everything in my room worked as it should. The room and lobby were very clean, and room service did a great job. The hotel was quiet and close to plenty of restaurants. The shared WiFi was surprisingly good, too. I liked the fitness center, with its dumbbells, bench, several treadmills, and a Peleton bike. Onsite laundry cost $5 to wash and dry. I didn't try the food. Everyone I encountered was upbeat and positive, which was amazing to see. It was the same quality I've come to expect from Hilton.

The breakfast was a letdown. There’s no complimentary option, and the buffet is served to you at the table with a fixed plate of scrambled egg product, potatoes, sausage, a waffle, and oatmeal. Toast with the eggs and sausage counts as an extra side, and you have to pay more for it. Ordering a real fried egg from the menu costs less than the buffet and is actually a better value. I’m usually a big fan of Hilton, but this Montgomery visit was only okay. My room had no trash bins, a broken toilet paper holder with missing parts, and dirty socks left behind by the previous guest. The paper had to sit on the floor. There was also a plastic bag taped over the smoke detector. I reported these things to the front desk and they were addressed, though housekeeping could use better quality control. The AC was noisy, too. This stay was less enjoyable than I’d expect from Hilton.

Stanley, the night auditor, was amazing to work with and helped sort out my reservation without any issues. The front desk was so nice to my wife and me, and the housekeepers were extremely nice as well. We liked the hotel enough to stay a second night, and it’ll be our go-to. Thanks, buddy. Huey

The room was dirty, the refrigerator was full of water, the floor was filthy, and the bathroom door hook was broken. The ice machine on the third floor didn't work either. Breakfast would have cost $14 per person. We've stayed at a lot of Hilton properties, and this one was by far the worst. They charged $355 for a standard room and breakfast. Horrible place to stay.
