Days Inn by Wyndham Monticello

We had a really enjoyable stay and would come back. The staff were wonderful, the pool was awesome, and the room was pretty clean. There's a Red savoy super close too, and lots of interesting characters around. The main issue seems to be that the owner doesn't want to spend money updating the place. The freezer needed defrosting.

I stayed with my child for eight days. The room had some damage but was clean, and the pool area was clean too. They made some effort to keep people following the rules. Staff were friendly, though not always professional. Breakfast could have been better, with little variety. The pancake maker broke partway through the week and wasn't fixed while we were there. They also ran out of sugar and didn't restock it. This isn't a fully put-together four-star hotel, but if you need somewhere safe and semi-quiet to sleep that isn't absolutely disgusting, it meets that expectation. For an inexpensive hotel, it's fine.

Service was wonderful. They let me check in a little early because the room was ready. The room looked clean and wasn't bad, though all the extension cords connecting the bedside lamps made me uneasy. It feels like you have to choose what to plug in. This Days Inn was cleaner than the last one I stayed at, but I get the feeling the company doesn't care much about appearance.

The staff are friendly and have good customer service skills. They deserve to work at a better hotel. For the price, this could work if you just need somewhere to sleep and will be in and out. My heater and TV didn't work, the mattress was very thin, and I only had a sheet and an extremely thin throw for covers. Several outlets didn't work, and there was just one hand towel. The hotel is very dated. The rooms were vacuumed and decent, but didn't feel clean. With Covid19 going around, rooms everywhere I'd been had smelled of disinfectant despite feeling outdated. This room didn't smell clean, and I could smell cigarette smoke instead.
