La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Houston Energy Corridor

The room was disgusting. There was a silverfish in the tub, a roach crawling up the wall when I walked in, and trash by the pullout bed. Wood was wedged under the AC, and a hole let cold air in. You could literally see outside. Breakfast was awful, just cold boiled eggs, a few microwave sausages, and bread. At least it was quiet, probably because hardly anyone was there. I called first to ask about a deposit, and the manager said it depended on how I looked: if I looked sketchy, there’d be a deposit, and if not, there wouldn’t. That really put me off, but I still gave it a chance. The manager was nice once I got inside. The woman on the night shift was very rude and unfriendly.

Housekeeping was excellent. Whenever I asked for fresh towels or little things, they restocked them without question. Breakfast was the one letdown, with few choices. I wish they had biscuits and gravy. I don’t know what company made the scrambled eggs, but even my alcoholic uncle could make better ones, and she’s blind in one eye. Otherwise, everything was wonderful.

The only issue was during the checkout and check-in turnover, when the cleaning staff accidentally took all the towels from my room. It was sorted out quickly and without any disagreement. Otherwise, it was a great stay. The place felt clean, secure, peaceful, and welcoming, and the staff and other guests helped make it a happy, relaxed atmosphere. I felt my belongings were safe and would definitely recommend it.

Restaurants are within 7-10 miles, and fast food and Walgreens are very close. NASA is 45 minutes away, but the drive with an EZ tag was completely worth it. The stay itself was clean and peaceful, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
