The Monticello Inn

We booked through Expedia while traveling and just needed a place to sleep for a few hours. We arrived very late and planned to leave early, but each room had only one double bed. When we went back to ask about switching to a room with two beds, the front desk said a second bed would cost another $30. None of the room amenities worked, and cleanliness was about 3/10. Pay at the property was the arrangement. Know what you’re booking.

I arrived around 00:30 in cold rain. The man at the desk kept saying I should have booked the previous night because it was already after midnight. I told him I understood and had booked the correct date, but he got angry, refused to check the reservation, shouted, “I was helping you!!!” and walked off, leaving me alone. Luckily, another Inn across the road welcomed me. The next day, this inn also tried to charge my credit card. Refusing a guest for no reason is one thing, but don’t take their money.

The room smelled awful, like an ashtray mixed with a public restroom, and I couldn’t sleep properly. I tried airing it out for about 40 minutes, but that barely helped. It also seemed dirty, there was mold in the shower, and the WiFi didn’t work at all. Worst motel I’ve stayed in. Don’t stay there!
