Inn at Monticello

I called tonight to report that someone was on the Wi-Fi, and they didn’t seem to care.

We spent the most uncomfortable 10 hours we’ve ever had anywhere. The place felt like a homeless shelter, it was filthy, and my kids didn’t feel safe. I was afraid even to use the bathroom or take off our shoes. The sheets had stains and hair all over them, so we were too worried to get under them and slept on top instead. They’d already moved us from our first room, which smelled like pot and had big stains all over the sheets. If we’d had the choice, we would have slept in our car.

We only needed somewhere to sleep for one night, and this did the job. The beds were actually comfortable, the price was good, and the staff deserve thanks. The area isn’t great, the place isn’t especially clean, and the rooms aren’t anything special. If you’re expecting a fancy luxury hotel, this isn’t it, but I think reviews should be fair about what the place is. Our expectations were low, and it served the purpose we needed.

We paid over $80 for a room, walked in, and turned right around to leave. The cigarette smell was awful, the carpet looked as if it had blood stains, and the whole place felt so unsettling that I thought I’d stepped into a sketchy drug movie. We checked out and found another hotel, but the man wouldn’t refund us. I wondered if they do that on purpose, knowing people won’t want to stay there. There was another woman in the office complaining that she didn’t feel safe sleeping in her room. The man wouldn’t refund her either, and apparently the hotel was full, so he couldn’t move her. I offered her our room since we weren’t staying. She agreed, and she was also trying to find another hotel.
