Capitol Plaza Hotel Montpelier Tapestry Collection by Hilton

It’s a renovated, cozy hotel in a great central spot, and the bedding was among the best I’ve found at any Hilton. Since it’s a historic building, the rooms may feel less spacious than standard chain hotel rooms, but that adds a lot of charm. Really beautiful.

The staff were great, all super friendly and helpful, and it wasn’t a bad stay. The rooms and facilities, though, felt dated, so this definitely wasn’t a five-star experience. In the bathroom, only the two lights above the vanity worked for the room, and one kept flickering on and off like it had a short. We were told to use a parking key, which costs an extra $12 a day, but it never worked, so we had to take a ticket. Scanning that ticket to leave didn’t work either. We used the stairs because of the old elevator. A sign by its buttons warned not to press more than once or it could slow down or stop.

Snow kept us from driving to Boston and the hotel we’d already booked, so we picked this place for its restaurant and convenient location. The bartender was really nice, and I had one of the best pork chops I’ve had. I’d stay here again.

I’ve stayed here several times, and the staff have been amazing every time. It’s a bonus having a restaurant right downstairs. The cook and restaurant staff deserve kudos: my food always comes out quickly and tastes delicious. I posted the dessert to go below. You don’t find that in many places. Thanks again!
