La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Mooresville

The stay itself went well. Joe, Ashley, and Olivia were excellent once we arrived on 2/3. They were friendly, professional, and understanding, and their service made a stressful situation easier. The room was clean and fresh, breakfast was good, with waffles, sausage, and more, and checkout was quick and smooth. The reservation process was misleading and unnecessarily stressful, though that isn’t a reflection on the hotel. When I called to book at the La Quinta in Mooresville, PA, I thought I was talking with the front desk. Instead, I reached an AI system connected to an Expedia affiliate. The quote was over $300 higher than the actual hotel rate, and I couldn’t get through to a live person. I called the hotel directly and spoke with Joe. He explained that the reservation was through a third party, not the hotel, and helped me cancel the overpriced booking and reserve directly. The next morning, Ashley confirmed the hotel hadn’t received any payment from the Expedia affiliate. Be careful when calling to book. Check who you’re booking through before giving payment details, and if the price seems unusually high, call the hotel directly. Ask for a live person right away.

The location is great, with lots of stores within walking distance. There’s a cracker barrel right out front and a gas station across the street. I’d stay again, as long as I knew what to expect from breakfast. My room was spacious and very nice, and the bed was cozy. I love that they gave us five pillows instead of four, since I need three and my wife uses two. The toilet seat was clearly worn and could use replacing, though it wasn’t dirty. The guy at the front desk was nice, but check-in took about 10 minutes per person, which felt long. Breakfast wasn’t a full cooked spread. Sausage was the only thing they cooked; the rest was the usual cereal, oatmeal, bagels, make-your-own waffles, and similar stuff.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the workout room was spacious. I seemed to be the only person using it, though, and it could use a yoga mat and a TV that works. The breakfast was included, with the usual range of carb-heavy foods and a few somewhat healthy choices, but the coffee was mediocre. The hotel was clean and in pretty good shape overall, though the tubs need a facelift because the edges are worn. It looks like it used to be a Wingate before switching to a LaQuinta. For the price, it’s a good hotel in a convenient spot.

The woman at the front desk was so kind, but the room was awful. Stains covered the beds, walls, and ceilings, and the place felt filthy and grimy, like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. The fridge barely worked, and the TV didn’t work at first. When I figured it out, it was only in Spanish. The bathroom wasn’t bad, but the room was still disgusting overall. I don’t think I’d stay here again.
