The room and shower were clean, and the bed and linens were comfortable. There was good equipment in the room, breakfast was nice, and I liked the body lotion. My only issue was the carpet, which smelled damp and could use replacing.

The bed was comfortable and the room was big, but the stained comforter and towels put me off showering. The tub faucet ran loudly all night and wouldn't shut off. I tried putting a towel under it to soften the noise, but that didn't help, and I could still hear it with the bathroom door closed. By morning, water covered the bottom of the tub despite the towel. After driving 450 miles the day before, I didn't ask to change rooms, but room 153 is a no-go. I can't recommend it, so one star is all I can give.

The bed was comfortable, but there were problems throughout the room and hotel. The check-in lobby smelled like urine, and we found a web and spider by the window. In this non-smoking room, there was cigarette ash on the side table, and we called the office about it. The chair was stained, the toilet seat had sticky residue that we cleaned ourselves, the bathroom sink wasn't firmly attached to the wall, and the smoke alarm was hanging off. The hotel is clearly dated and needs work, though I doubt it will get a refresh. There were about 15 feral cats outside, with a man who seemed to be a worker feeding them. Trees and bushes partly hid the sign from the road.

The place felt unfit for guests, and I can't understand how CHOICE hotels can keep it open. We booked two rooms two months ahead, but were told these were the last ones. The non-smoking rooms were surrounded by people smoking cigarettes and weed. Our ground-floor room opened straight outside, and we had to hold our breath because it was dark, smelled awful, and had stained sheets. The other room was in the hotel building, up a dirty, frightening hallway. Mold and weed odors filled it, and the narrow stairs and halls made the building seem poorly suited to be a hotel. In that room, the particleboard headboard was falling off, drywall was chipped, paint had been patched, and the bedspread and sheets were stained. Worst of all, there were lots of eggs and dead bed bugs on the bottom mattress protector. We left quickly. The front desk man said they'd never had bed bugs, then denied the photo was from their property when I showed it to him. He offered to have maintenance “clean it up.” How would cleaning up fix bed bugs? The buildings are falling apart, the place barely feels like a motel, and the check-in area smelled like a musty, urine-soaked basement despite being above ground. The chemical Pine-Sol smell stayed in my clothes for hours after we left.

The rooms were clean and the price wasn't bad, around $80, a lot cheaper than the $150 to $200 a night you'd pay at Holiday Inn. It's not a bad hotel.
