Old Towne Yacht Club, please take this seriously. I’m close to contacting the police, and if anyone knows who this man is, please let me know. He was running a boat while impaired and came within 20 feet of the beach, cutting $30 worth of my fishing line while I was fishing at the Radio Island public beach. When I confronted him and asked him to cover the damage, he threatened to punch me in the face and told me to calm down. Then he asked to see my fishing license. I said I didn’t have to show it to him, and explained I’m under 16 so I don’t need one. He argued that I did need one anyway. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, especially if the residents’ behavior is condoned.

The sunsets and views are amazing, and there’s a nice semi-private beach nearby. We saw dolphins almost every day, and sometimes wild horses crossing the water from the island. Seeing both at once is pretty special. Such a beautiful place to stay.
UPDATE, this Fourth of July, 2020: after 8-10 years of staying here and bringing our boat to rent a slip, we were charged double for dock rent. The website listed $150 for a week, but they charged us $300 each for six days, $600 total to park at the day dock. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and got no response. We were told midweek that if we didn’t like it, we could pull our boats and go somewhere else. Not sure what changed, but I guess that ends our decade of loving this place. The views are amazing, and we used to love staying here.
Room 208 was spotless, and the view was spectacular. My husband and I enjoyed it so much, especially the decor and the homey feel. We definitely want to return to OTYC.
The HOA fees have tripled since the start of the year and are now over $1,100 a month. If you buy a condo here, be ready for a shock over the fees, especially with hardly any amenities. There are better properties with better views, more amenities, and much lower HOA fees. Hope this helps, and have a great day.
