Mainstay Suites Moreno Valley

It was clean for a motel, the hot water worked, there were no roaches, and parking was free. The price was affordable, too. But the pictures were misleading, and apart from the TV, nothing looked especially nice. The room was tiny, with the kitchen taking up much of the space, and it felt like a dorm. Towels were small, and I was so disappointed I couldn’t sleep. I wanted to cancel and book somewhere else but it was too late. Fine if you just need to sleep for a night or two and save money.

The location isn’t great, and I wouldn’t walk around at night, though it didn’t feel unsafe otherwise. For the price, service was pretty good. Jasmine at the front desk was especially great. I’d recommend it for a night or two if you want a budget place.

The bed and fridge were clean, and the room was quiet. The morning desk clerk was pleasant. But the shower water in room 224 was cold, and the room smelled awful, like urine when the air came on. The stove was filthy, and the pots and pans in the cupboard had food on them; the cups had food bits too. The front desk had no flip flops to give me. He said he’d bring cups in the morning, okay. At checkout I learned the boiler had been turned off.

The room looked nicely set up and seemed freshly cleaned with lots of Fabuloso, but things went downhill from there. After we went out and came back, a terrible smell was coming from the air conditioning vent. By evening it also seemed to be coming from the sitting table and the console between the beds. On our second night we found a roach. We left early the next morning after sleeping with the lights on. I’d booked three rooms for my family while we were in town taking my daughter to college. Before arrival I called the manager to check the reservation, but she wouldn’t give my mom or me basic room information and then hung up on my mom. They also don’t clean rooms daily or provide fresh towels. When I asked housekeeping for two clean face towels, she made a big deal of it before handing them over. If smells and bugs don’t bother you, I guess it’s a great location.
