Courtyard Portland North

The views are fantastic, especially from the third and fourth floors. Some rooms facing the river have balconies, and the staff went above and beyond. My stay was pleasant, and the hassles were manageable, but there were quite a few: noise from the hall and neighboring rooms, very small parking spots, and garage perimeter locks that didn’t work. We could hear our upstairs neighbor doing things, including what sounded like their toilet draining through the walls when they flushed. The market by the front desk was nearly out of everything, and the hotel’s little access street is difficult unless you’re driving a compact car.

Lynai has such a kind heart. I stopped in early last week, maybe Monday or Tuesday, and she was working so quickly that it seemed like she was handling things almost by herself. Still, she made me feel as if she had a whole team beside her. When she saw me with my kids, I told her a little about being a single parent, and she smiled and said I was doing a great job. That really touched me. I live in the nearby apartments and drop in on my days off. Lynai always makes me feel welcome, and her smile and kind words brighten the place. She made me the most delicious white chocolate mocha, too. With two kids and a busy schedule, it’s a relief to have a person and place I can count on for a little pick-me-up. She’s a gem.

The rooms were spacious, and housekeeping was awesome. Just know the pool is really cold and isn’t heated. Breakfast and everything else cost extra.

The early morning garbage collection for the nearby apartments was loud, starting before 6 a.m. on at least two mornings. The road in and out is tight, though manageable if you take your time, and garage parking is limited but seemed adequate for the number of guests. There isn’t much right around the hotel, but being near the highway is handy for travelers. I had a comfortable one-bedroom suite with a roomy living area, wet bar, and small mini fridge. The bed was a good height and surprisingly cozy, with four pillows, and the shower pressure was excellent. Check-in was somewhat friendly, while everyone else on staff I met was genuinely warm and welcoming. A few minor drawbacks, but the comfortable room and friendly people made it a solid stay.
