Ramada by Wyndham Portland Airport

I slept through the night without disturbance, and the free shuttle and nice receptionist were definite pluses. The room was quiet and clean, with a working fridge and microwave. I checked the mattress and room carefully because of two earlier bedbug reviews and found no signs at all. The mattress seemed fairly new, and the sheets were clean and changed. There are dated details: old, slightly stained wallpaper, worn bathroom dents and scratches, and decor that reminded me of a Wes Anderson film. The lobby and halls have a lingering cigarette smell, too. This is a reasonably priced, no-frills place near the airport and away from city noise. Check rooms for bugs as you would at any hotel, and skip it if you’re very sensitive to years-old cigarette odor.

They let me check in four hours before the official time, which was nice. The room was clean, the bathroom was good, the staff were kind, and the airport shuttle helped a lot. For the price, it was very good, and staying here could save you hundreds if you only need a place to sleep. It does need remodeling. The old carpet should be replaced, and it has the potential to do well in the area with a good price and quality if there’s a strategic plan. My main issue, like other people have mentioned, was the cold room. It took a while to warm up a little. It’s an airport hotel with the usual expectations. If your company is paying, don’t come here lol.

The bed was comfortable, and housekeeping were kind and accommodating with all our needs. Be sure to tip them well. The hotel itself looked like section 8 housing, the projects. The vending machine wasn’t stocked right, so I couldn’t get what I wanted. The airport shuttle had been discontinued, so we had to take a cab. Drivers didn’t want the short trip to the hotel because they wouldn’t earn much, and when they did take us, they detoured and ran up the meter.

The pool area was pleasant, with plenty of chairs, tables and towels, and my grandchildren enjoyed an afternoon visit. There was also a nice exercise room and sauna. Guest laundry is in a small separate room, and the washer and dryer are inexpensive and convenient. My room was very clean and had everything I needed. The bed was a dream, though I would have liked an extra blanket. Housekeeping and the front desk were both helpful, professional and friendly. There were no hidden fees, the price was what they quoted, and the well-lit parking area felt safe. I booked through Booking.
