Jeff, Connie and Mary make this family-owned place feel like family, and you won’t meet nicer people. They keep working to improve things even when times get hard. There’s a full kitchen and a pool room too. For a vacation or work assignment, go meet them. You won’t regret it.

The location and price were both great, and I’ll definitely come back. My room was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed. A wonderful stay! 67 67

This happened a while back, and I had a lot going on before I got around to writing about it. Another person and I stayed a few nights. The hotel was inexpensive, the staff were nice, and the other guests were really sweet. There had been flooding before we arrived. I stayed in one day to take an exam while my business partner went to run things at the event. A staff member brought me snacks while I was working. I think they took me for a child until I cleared that up at checkout the next day, but it was still kind. The TV was nice, and the shower kept hot water going the whole time, which I’m not used to at home, where it only lasts four minutes. Spiders were the one problem we had, and they were everywhere. We put our shoes in our travel cases to keep them out. I mean brown recluses too. We dealt with them, but more kept appearing. At night they seemed worse, crawling down their threads from the ceiling near the beds. I slept tucked in tight so they wouldn’t get under the covers, and I covered my head with a super-thin shawl I’d brought. I’ve stayed in worse places. The year before, at Haven Inn, the owner went through my belongings while we were out. I know because the alarm on my security tag went off while we were eating. Nothing was taken, since we itemize everything for trips, but it was a scare I didn’t need. Luckily they didn’t look inside the little cabinet under the clock where I’d put my laptop case. That room also smelled strongly of cigarette smoke soaked into the paint, and there were stains on the mattress. I removed the sheets because they made me really itchy. I’m still shocked it wasn’t bed bugs, and I don’t know why I was so itchy.

We were able to check in early, and my room was ready when I arrived, which I liked. The manager was very friendly, and the place felt safe and private since it’s off the beaten path. Three of us stayed two nights. The price was great, and the room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. It’s an older facility without frills, but they make sure you have what you need. I’d come back if I’m in the area.
