The air conditioning didn’t work at first, and the room was hot. To their credit, maintenance fixed it, and the staff were nice and professional. They also helped kill a huge spider we found, but couldn’t repair the bedroom door, which was off its track and wouldn’t open or close. Nails were sticking up from the carpet at the threshold. After that, I called Joe, the manager at the front desk, thanked him for the AC repair, and asked to move rooms because of the spiders. He said there were no other rooms and offered either to let us leave then, at 11:15pm, without paying, or take 25% off at checkout the next day. That didn’t seem fair for a large spider, especially after I found another medium-sized one. We were paying full rate on a Saturday night for a mediocre Doubletree room with a broken door and spiders. I said I didn’t think those options were acceptable and that I was upset by the lack of empathy. I also said I wouldn’t leave a good review if that was really all he could offer. Joe called that a threat and took away the 25% discount. So now I had to pay full price because I complained, and was being accused of threatening him. It was an infuriating and upsetting response, especially when we had nowhere else to go and he wouldn’t move us. Instead of enjoying the evening with my Fiancé, we were writing this review at midnight with every light on and our phone flashlights out, looking for more spiders. I’m very upset about the whole experience. I’d appreciate management calling to explain how Joe’s response was appropriate. I’m a Hilton Honors member and have had good stays at other Doubletrees, so I didn’t expect this. I won’t stay here again. I hope this helps someone or leads to changes.

This used to be a peaceful place for quick getaways, and the pool was usually calm and relaxing. During my latest visit, it was hectic and noisy. The crowds of adults and kids meant my child couldn’t swim or enjoy the pool, and there was drinking and a strong weed smell. In two days I saw several arguments, multiple drunk people, a group smoking in the lot, and even a fight. The hotel itself is nice, but the loud, inconsiderate guests and parties made it hard to find any peace. Paying well over $500 and not being able to enjoy the amenities or relax is crazy. I’d been looking forward to a quiet break, but this will probably be my last visit. Avoid the busy days.

We picked this hotel for its location near Six Flags Great Adventure. A couple of places were slightly closer, but this one had all suites and was recently renovated, so I chose it. The room was very comfortable, and I have no complaints. The front desk staff were very friendly. Starbucks is across the street, too. Just know that a courtyard room near the pool will probably pick up the sound of kids playing during the day. It didn’t bother me, kids should have fun, though I can see why others might find it annoying.

We were only here for one night, so the amount of space in this all-suite hotel felt like overkill. The rooms themselves were good and roomy. Room service fell short, though: there were no bottled drinking water in the room, and the tea and coffee station wasn’t stocked well.

The food at Redz was pretty good, but as I left I nearly stepped in two piles of feces on the hallway carpet. I told the front desk, and they apologized, saying someone must have sneaked in a dog. I’m not in medicine, but I do own a dog. If those huge piles were from a dog, it would have been big enough that sneaking it past the front desk just around the corner would be quite a feat. Cathy checked in after I settled and was lovely when I told her the living room TV wouldn’t connect and the AC wasn’t working. She sent someone up, and I give her credit for that. The AC still wasn’t fixed by bedtime, though, so with the windows open it was noisy and hard to sleep. The second night my room reached 87 degrees. I’m descended from cold-weather people, and that was my personal hell. The front desk said all rooms were over 80. I didn’t want the hassle of packing, checking out early, and finding another hotel after 8:00, so I hoped open windows would cool things down. It got hotter and louder. I managed maybe three broken hours of sleep, and now I’m headed into meetings exhausted with a splitting headache. There was also a balance due at check-in, even though my company trip was booked and prepaid through corporate travel. My travel department can sort that out later. I’m in the area quarterly and usually stay at a hotel up the street, but gave the Doubletree a chance this time. I don’t think I’ll return. I don’t usually write reviews, but this was bad enough to share. The service problem didn’t seem to be at the staff level, though. Maybe I’ll recommend it to my ex-wife if she ever visits the area.
