Courtyard by Marriott Charleston Mount Pleasant

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well appointed, with a thoughtful layout. There was plenty of convenient parking, and shopping and a good range of restaurants are close by. This is by far the most upscale Courtyard by Marriott Charleston I've stayed in. The lobby and public areas are modern, beautifully designed, and inviting, giving the place a polished, high-end feel as soon as you walk in. If I'm back in the Charleston area, I'll absolutely stay here again and can highly recommend it.

I had to cancel the reservation and book another hotel at the last minute after the hotel got my room reservation wrong and made little effort to fix it. The only option they offered was for me to pay even more for another room while they supposedly corrected the mistake the next day. When I asked for a manager, the front desk said none was on duty. I asked them to contact any manager who could help. They eventually reached the General Manager, who was no help at all. Another employee told me the General Manager had said it wasn't necessary to resolve our issue. I kept hearing there was nothing they could do. They explicitly guaranteed I wouldn't be charged, but my account still showed a charge. When I called for a refund, I got the same 'no manager on duty' excuse, and they denied charging my card. The managers and front desk staff, especially Gabriella, were incompetent and provided some of the worst hospitality I've experienced. The whole thing was a nightmare, with no accountability or effort to make it right. I'd strongly recommend avoiding this hotel.

I was given a different room without being told, and the accommodation I'd booked wasn't provided. I was still charged full price. The front desk said the GM would contact me or try to make it right, but I never heard anything. The shower was broken, the drain was clogged, and the water pressure was only halfway. The tub filled up while I showered.

The hotel charged my card four times, and customer service has been terrible. I understand one charge for incidentals. The problem is that my company card was charged three more times without my permission, when I wasn't even there to authorize it. It's been a week with no response. There are many other hotels in Mount Pleasant that won't charge a card without authorization. Management knows about the situation and still won't respond. All I wanted was an explanation, or an admission that they'd made a mistake.
