The casino wasn’t very busy, so getting to the machines was easy, and my trip was successful. Food is okay, the usual casino fare. The deli is pretty good, though I came to lose money, not eat. I didn’t notice whether the Guy Fieri chicken place is still there. I’ve heard it’s had a couple of makeovers, so who knows.

There was a whole lot for people of different ages to do, and the workers were kind and helpful, working together to make sure customers were satisfied. Our family had one of its best resort birthday celebrations here. Highly recommend for events.

The rooms were nicer than I expected from a casino hotel. Ours had heavy curtains, a genuinely comfortable bed, and a gas fireplace, and the layout made it feel easy to settle in. The spa was quiet and unhurried, a nice change of pace from the busy rest of the property. We also spent much of Saturday afternoon at the pool, while the waterpark kept the rest of our group occupied. The gaming floor was large and lively, with slot machines in every direction, busy table games, and something always going on. For dinner the first night, we went to Ruth's Chris inside the resort. Weekend reservations are needed. The filet came out sizzling on a hot plate and was cooked exactly as requested. The creamed spinach got the most attention at our table, even though I hadn’t cared much about the sides going in. The second night was more casual at Johnny Rockets, the retro diner in the complex. The burger was simple and well made, and the thick real-ice-cream milkshake was one of the few I’ve ever finished. We came for the weekend because someone in our group needed a break from the city, and nobody objected to the casino resort idea. I had no real expectations, so I was surprised by how happy I was with the stay. Mount Pleasant is small enough that you end up spending most of your time at the resort, which was fine by us since there was plenty to do. We stayed two nights, and that felt like the right amount.

The staff were fantastic and went out of their way to make sure we were happy. When my son was having a meltdown, several people checked on him and asked how they could help. Tess even took him for a snack to help him calm down, and treated us with so much kindness during a really hard parenting moment. From one mother to another, it meant the world to me. I was highly impressed.

The AC failed again by the time we got back from the waterpark and casino at 1 AM. Our rooms were up to 82 degrees, and when I called the front desk, I was told there was nothing she could do. I asked about fans and was told she’d bring some up. After waiting more than an hour, I went to the lobby to get them myself. The desk clerk said, “I guess I forgot about you,” and handed them over. At checkout I reported what had happened and was told management would contact me. A week passed with no word. I filled out the guest survey, and someone said management would reach out. It’s now been a month, still no contact. We booked four rooms, and the AC wasn’t working in three when we arrived. The rooms were 82 degrees. Maintenance came promptly to repair the units, and we went to the waterpark for the day. The waterpark felt dated and wasn’t especially clean. Every vending machine in the facility was out of service, leaving the snack bar as the only food and drink option. The casino, by contrast, was a very nice non-smoking environment. We drove four hours and spent thousands of dollars for terrible accommodations at a subpar facility. I had high hopes, but it’s unfortunate they seem to care so little about customer service and making things right. In all my years of travel and vacations, this is the first negative review I’ve ever left. I’d recommend spending your money elsewhere.
