Hilander Motel

My mother and I had an amazing stay. The staff were very friendly, and our room was clean and nice. The shower had good water pressure, too.

We found the Highlander motel after hours of searching, and they were incredibly kind about getting us a room at 5:30 in the morning. The staff were terrific, and the owner was fabulous. The room was clean and had all the essentials for a motel stay, in a great spot right off the main drag. I honestly would stay there above the Ritz, and highly recommend them. My fiancé and I had been driving from Bend OR, and had a reservation at motel 6 in Burns that B booked through bing.com. It was a complete disaster, and I definitely wouldn't recommend using them. After paying, the reservation apparently hadn't gone through, and we couldn't find anywhere between Burns and Boise. There was a rodeo and everything was booked. The few rooms available were around $400 and way overpriced.

For travelers on a budget, it's a nice, clean place, though it isn't fancy. The beds are comfortable, and the room had a microwave, mini fridge, and a decent-sized TV. The bathroom looks recently remodeled, with a new tub, toilet, tile, and faucets. I don't usually leave reviews, but the owner is such a nice man that I felt I should. The outside pictures make it clear this is an older motel.

I enjoyed my stay, and the remodel looks nice. I assume they filled in the pool with rocks to make more parking spaces. I did have a concern about the bathroom light switch placement, which might make for a shocking experience 😳 😅. The toilet in my room wasn't level, and each time I stood up it banged its reservoir against the wall. I wedged some TP between them to stop it from hitting and ruining the new wall, or disturbing the neighbor.
