Superior Motel & Suites

We found the room roomy, the bed comfortable, and the staff very friendly. It's a bit farther from the coast than some other motels, but still just a short walk. A good budget option for travelers.

The place is a wreck, and I can't think of anything positive to say. The room was old and pricey for what it was. Nothing seemed to have been remodeled since the motel first opened. The windows had badly fitting shades, so we had to hang sheets over them to stop people seeing in. The walls are so thin that we heard people talking outside and every vehicle that drove past. There were problems all through our stay. The sink took a good five minutes to drain, and by the end of a shower I was standing in water above my ankles. When we returned after being out, the old floor heat was on. The wall heater and AC unit was broken, and there was also a window AC. I told the lady the heat was on, and she said, “It's an old hotel, I don't know what to tell you.” She told me to turn on the AC. I said it was on, and she said to lower the thermostat. We'd already done that. It took about four hours for the heat to finally shut off. The TV didn't work for around five hours, until someone came to fix it.

It's a good price compared with some nearby places. We got back late from our cruise and found the pullout couch we needed was on a slope. It felt like the blood was rushing to my head, so we slept the other way around. In the morning we realized the fridge and freezer weren't working properly. Our drinks were warm, and the bag of ice had turned into a bag of water. I asked if I could take a cold drink from the cooler in the office, but they said only the apple juice was free. They just said “sorry” and didn't offer any refund.

I'm lying here with my head on a flat little pillow, trying to sleep through the busy road and every word from the people in the next room. They don't even sound like they're talking loudly. The rooms are outdated and kind of gross, with several flies in ours. We couldn't see any bedbugs, so I guess that's one plus. We chose this place because it allowed pets, but in the end we left our pup at home. I won't come back, especially for what we paid. I've paid less for better. My husband said the check-in staff was really nice and helpful.
