The room was clean and modern, and the bed was comfortable. The area was decent, but the stay was only okay for me. It’s advertised as a hotel, yet it felt more like a shared Airbnb, with no fitness center, pool, or free breakfast, and the higher price made that feel misleading. Parking was cramped, with more rooms than spaces, and the blinds let streetlights through, so the room never got fully dark. The loft looked cool but got much too hot and stuffy. Even with the AC turned all the way down, it only seemed to blow warm air. The main floor stayed reasonably cool on its own. The coffee maker’s water reservoir was filthy, so I didn’t use it, and the bathroom sink barely drained. One night, another guest repeatedly tried to get into my room at 10:30, thinking he was in room 7 rather than my room 1. He stood outside complaining loudly on the phone to the host before being told he had the wrong room. That was pretty weird. There were a few smaller problems too, and I’d say there are better options.

The neighborhood looked a little iffy to me, though it seemed safe, and there was plenty of parking both beside the property and on the street. I’d misunderstood how much a suite cost, which was my mistake. I also saw there are other locations in standalone buildings, so I’ll look at those next time I’m in Muskegon. My suite itself was spacious and attractive, like a renovated home. It had a shower stall but no bath, TVs in both the living room and bedroom, and a full-size fridge-freezer. There was also a coffee maker and a fairly large sink.

The place was cute and had enough amenities, but our unit wasn’t clean. The rug was disgusting, and walking across it left our feet dirty with grit and hair. We tried going over the floor with the Swiffer twice, but it was still gritty and had lots of hair on it.

Our room was spacious and nicely updated, with the character of the renovated building still coming through. The bed was really comfortable, the bathroom felt fresh, and the towels were cozy. The kitchenette had what we needed for a longer stay, and getting in with the key card was easy. Our host was warm and quick to respond when we needed anything. This place in Muskegon worked well for a quick night or a longer retreat, and I’d recommend considering it for a visit.

I normally choose hotels for their range of services and room options, but I decided to try DreamStay on Clay and was glad I did. The space felt comfortable and modern, with more room than I expected and a nice mix of style and coziness. It’s also well placed for walking to local attractions, and Muskegon State Park and Lake Michigan aren’t far away. That made it easy to enjoy both downtime and exploring. I had a fantastic stay and would recommend it to people visiting the area.
