Holiday Inn Express & Suites Muskegon - Grand Haven by IHG

I spent 12 nights here and felt at home. The whole team was professional, kind, and ready to help throughout my stay, and I’m sincerely grateful for such a comfortable, welcoming experience. A special thank you to Clarence, Stephanie, Alysha, and Kenyatta for being attentive, warm, and so dedicated to making everything right. Their care made a real difference. I’d gladly recommend this hotel and would be very happy to stay here again.

We tried to talk politely with staff and understand their concerns, but they dismissed us, talked over us, and threatened us instead of showing basic courtesy. The whole experience was upsetting and not what families should face when traveling together. Staff interacted inappropriately with children in our group without speaking to their parents, which made us uncomfortable. There were no warnings or attempts to work things out before they called police on another family and demanded they leave. That felt extreme and unnecessary. Our kids had only been walking between family members’ rooms in the early afternoon, well before quiet hours. Hotels should be places where families can relax and kids can spend time together without feeling watched, followed, or accused of doing something wrong. I don’t recommend this hotel for families, especially youth sports teams. There are better options nearby that know how to support groups and families.

Update: it got even worse. I was at the table for a few hours between games, and a woman was asked to leave with a police escort for supposedly being loud. She wasn’t loud at all. She was complaining to management about the staff being rude. Staff also said the other teams were loud, and they lied so much. I saw a younger AA girl roll her eyes and talk badly about a soccer family while they were checking in. They’d just arrived, and she did this to multiple families. Our hockey organization will blacklist this hotel for events. Do NOT stay here, and I suggest other teams do the same. We were here for a local sports tournament with many other teams. The staff were grouchy and rude, and made up rules like not being allowed into other people’s rooms. They called several people loud when nobody was making noise, including times when we weren’t even at the hotel. They didn’t like families gathering together as a team in the lobby and were rude when people spoke to them. It was a huge disappointment. We’ve stayed at hotels for lots of tournaments this past season and have never been treated like this. Our organization won’t use this hotel again. Multiple team groups from around Grand Rapids were yelled at. We all talk.

I’ve been staying here for work for a while, and the staff are really nice and make sure I have what I need. Aysha from concierge deserves a shout-out. Last week she got me a boom to help clear snow off my car. She greets guests with a smile and makes people feel welcome. She should definitely get a raise! :) And sorry to any staff whose names I can’t recall. Everyone has been welcoming and on top of everything.
