We had a great Friday night at the bar, singing karaoke and meeting some new friends. The resort is on the quieter side of the golden mile, with less traffic and noise, beachfront access, and amazing ocean and coastline views over miles of sand. The rooms are clean and well kept, though a bit dated, especially the bathroom, tub, and shower. We stayed in an owner suite with a full kitchen, stove, and dishes. There are plenty of heated pools and hot tubs, plus a lazy river to float your worries away. If you eat or drink at the on-site restaurant or bar, be ready for an 18% gratuity on the bill. That seems to be standard in Myrtle Beach.

We’d stayed here before and loved the indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs, along with the nice rooms. This visit was a letdown. It rained the whole time, so we only got to the beach and outdoor pools and hot tub one day. We would have used the indoor pool and hot tub, but they were closed for repairs. I think that work could have been done in winter, when fewer guests are around. I paid hundreds for five nights, yet they charged $12 per night to park, which had never happened on our earlier stays. There was no housekeeping either. To get towels, toilet paper, or other supplies, you had to call the front desk between 9-2, and we had to call more than once each time. The resort itself is nice and the room was good, but I won’t return because of these issues. Charging for parking when I’m already paying to stay there is unacceptable to me.

The amenities were great, with the beach right there, three pools, and a large jacuzzi. But the inside of our room was not good, and if it hadn’t been too late, I would have picked somewhere else. The kitchen had no working light, the dining room table and furniture need updating, and the bathrooms need remodeling. Room 201 isn’t a good one to stay in, and the closet housing the furnace had a leak.

I’m back after a return visit with children, this time in a two-bedroom condo-style room on the 15th floor. The room was beautiful, neat, clean, and well kept, just like last time. My only complaint is a $35 early check-in fee they now charge, which wasn’t listed in the terms during or after booking. On my first visit, I stayed on the 19th floor during the second week of September. The main beach crowd had gone, and there were mostly locals, which was perfect. The room was clean, had a great view, and the kitchenette came with plates and cutlery. Beds were comfortable, the staff were kind, and the beach was right outside the door. There’s a self-serve snack bar open all night. The indoor bar leaves something to be desired, but works in a pinch. For morning coffee, I just crossed the parking lot to the dunes next door and went to Starbucks. There’s plenty of pool space for kids and things to do if you plan ahead. The indoor pool was closed during that first visit, but the outdoor pools were heated and the beach was right there, so it wasn’t much of a loss. As for the parking garage complaints, it’s tight, but manageable if you drive carefully and follow the instructions. Larger vehicles can use the special parking in front and avoid the low ceiling.

The room was large, but the smell was awful and it never aired out, even with the balcony doors open. It cost over $400 for one night and was not worth it. The room wasn’t clean: the carpet was dirty, the kitchen was dated and grimy, the towels felt stiff and gross, and the furniture was ripped, dirty, and smelly. It could be a good place if they cleaned the rooms and replaced the furniture. The check-in person was nice. On the plus side, it’s oceanfront with an outdoor pool and hot tub, though the indoor pool was closed for renovations. Parking was okay, with very low ceilings, but it was convenient that the garage connects on the same side of the hotel, so you don’t have to cross the street. We won’t return.
