Darlington Inn

I asked about booking because I was traveling with two dogs and the hotel is advertised as dog friendly. The man I spoke with said they usually take only one dog and asked what breeds mine were. When I said English bulldog and mixed breed, he asked whether the mixed breed had pitbull in it. It does. He said he couldn't rent me a room because of insurance, since I had an aggressive breed. *sigh*

The Flip Flop cottage was roomy, quiet, and convenient, with the beach access right across the street, parking directly in front, and plenty of room to walk the pups. The living room fit the crates perfectly. We have two Labrador pups, and hotel stays can be a pain because we responsibly crate them when we're out of the room, and crates take up space. This last-minute booking for a convention worked out so well. We were glad to find it, especially at an affordable off-season price. They have a strict pet policy, but welcome responsible dog owners, which I appreciate. I also like that they don't tolerate smoking or marijuana. At other places we've had neighbors smoking outside our door or nearby, but the policy here shows in how clean the units are. The AC runs cold, the bathroom is roomy, and there's a large kitchen with a table. It's not the busiest part of the beach, which suits us. We'll be back in summer!

Close to local shops and restaurants, but tucked away enough to feel like a private retreat. This beach cottage was an amazing, quiet escape, whether for a romantic trip or a family vacation. Can't wait to come back. 🌊🐚🏡

The balcony was the best, with a perfect ocean view and a lovely breeze. We loved the clean pool, and the hose and showers were handy for rinsing off after the ocean. The area felt safe, even walking the dogs late at night, and it was quiet and kid friendly. Though it's pet friendly, the rooms were so clean you wouldn't know animals were allowed. We hardly heard a dog bark. We came with our kids and two fur babies and had a kitchenette, which was a lifesaver for the constant snack and drink requests. The beds were comfortable, water pressure was good, and the hot water worked great. Everything was VERY VERY clean. Check-in and checkout were easy, and the staff were kind and accommodating. With an unobstructed ocean view and such a peaceful stay at Darlington Inn, we plan to come back a few times before summer ends and afterward. It'll be our go-to from now on.
