Landmark Resort

Sherman really helped make our stay memorable. The first room's beds didn't seem big enough for four people, so we called down. He spent about 15 minutes finding us a better fit, with two beds and a Murphy bed. The front desk women were pleasant, and check-in was quick. There was lots of security, which made me feel safe, and the beach and pools were the highlights. The pools stayed open late, and the indoor ones were heated. It was packed on Saturday and Sunday, then much quieter Monday, which was nice. We stayed four days, Saturday through Tuesday. We had lunch at the restaurant. The service was slow, but the food was decent bar fare. The restaurant was very dark and badly needed a deep clean, with grime all over the booths. A few things were disappointing. The restaurant and bar closed early and weren't open at all Tuesday, and we couldn't charge things to the room despite being told we could. The snack shack never opened. The kids said the slides hurt their backs and left visible marks, maybe they need more water. The beds sagged and the pillows were flat. We paid $40 for late checkout so we could use the pools and beach and shower before leaving, then the water to our building was shut off. If we'd known, we would've saved the money and checked out earlier. I'd come back, though the whole hotel could use a thorough cleaning and sprucing up.

We loved how easy it was to go between the beach and the pool, and the location was amazing. The room was clean and comfortable, just what we needed. Sitting on the balcony in the morning with coffee and listening to the ocean was a favorite. My family and I had a great time at Landmark Resort this weekend, and we'd definitely return.

The pools and recreation were great, and the rooms were clean. There was a large pipe that looked like a sewage pipe running down the beach between the hotel and ocean. It seemed to be a temporary city repair issue and not the resort's fault. All in all, I had a great experience on my first stay here. I hadn't been told when booking about the $275 deposit, which is supposed to be refunded about a week after check-in.

The elevators made the stay frightening. There are four on one side of the building and two on the other, but only two of the four and one of the two were working. My fiance and our children got stuck in one of the elevators that was working. We were on a high floor, and it was terrifying. Our first night was rough for other reasons too. Our oldest cut her leg on a bed whose broken part was hidden, so we hadn't known it was damaged. We also needed pillows and blankets for one bed, trash bags, and towels, which made it clear the room wasn't ready. The phones either didn't work or nobody answered, so we went to the lobby to speak with an employee. We were told the manager would contact us the next morning. There were further issues with cleanliness and employee attitudes. My fiance, our three children, and I vacationed here in July last year, after coming every year for more than 10 years. We hoped to hear back before leaving this review, but nobody did. We've tried email and calls. I don't like posting negative reviews, but our loyalty clearly meant little to them. My family, especially the kids, are devastated that we'll have to take our yearly week-long vacation elsewhere this year.
