Westgate Myrtle Beach Oceanfront 828-94

The beach access, poolside bars, multiple pools, and other amenities were great, and the rooms were clean. I ordered a romance package, and it was put together thoughtfully. The staff were 10/10: their events were fun, we got to know them, and they were always kind and cordial. I’ve used Westgate before, but this was my first stay at Myrtle Beach Westgate. I’d give the stay about 2.75 stars. Both of our showers malfunctioned. One leaked to the floor below, and the other spilled water all over the floor. Maintenance fixed the smaller shower but left the larger one in the main room, so we spent the whole vacation using and replenishing towels to keep the floors dry. On our last morning, near the resort entrance, my partner and I were walking when a homeless man yelled at us. Later we saw him yelling and sprinting in our direction, so we ducked into a hotel lobby to avoid being seen. He kept looking for us as we got away to the beach and only stopped when other people interrupted him. When we drove out later that afternoon, he was still around, strolling along the boardwalk. We were scared and shaking, almost ready to call the police. Westgate has on-site security, cameras, and locks, but I wish the guards had been more numerous and visible to help prevent something like this so close to a family-friendly resort and give guests peace of mind. I appreciated the oceanfront convenience, staff, and amenities, but after that incident I’m not likely to return.

We’ll go back after this stay. The front desk staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and the hotel scent was heavenly. I need to call and ask what it is so I can get some for my house. Kimmie at concierge is the BEST! There’s lots to explore, including multiple pools, a hot tub, arcades, restaurants, and more. We should have looked around more when we first arrived. You can walk straight out to the beach, and guests can use the beach chairs. The water pressure wasn’t great, but we managed. The main issue was room cleanliness: there was hair from the previous guests on the floor in the room and bathroom, and on the bedding. When they came to unclog the shower drain, we asked for another cleaning and they were quick to accommodate. Apart from the hair, it’s a great location and a wonderful place. Four stars because of the cleanliness.

I had a really enjoyable week, with a comfy bed and not much noise on the sixth floor. The room was clean, and I was pleasantly surprised by how clean the resort was overall. Staff were friendly too. The water pressure wasn’t good, so I’d give the room four stars, but I wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

We’ve been coming to WestGate Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for four years now, and each visit makes us want to return the next year. We love the beach view and entrance, but our favorite is the tiki bar and especially the bartender Kareem. She’s so kind and makes the stay that much better. Get a souvenir cup and refills will cost less. Check out WGR if you’re in the area, you won’t be disappointed.
