Hampton Inn Nanuet

The staff were nice, but telling us the elevator was old and slow didn't make me feel any better. It trapped us on our first night, then ignored the lobby button and took us to the basement. The stairs were on the other side of the building. We were on the third floor and avoided the elevator for the rest of our stay because we were afraid of getting stuck again. The room had no bathroom supplies, mold on the ceilings, dangling wires from the AC, and a large-screen TV with no working picture. In the morning, the trash beside the coffee was overflowing and fruit flies were on the creamer at 7 a.m. When I returned later, the trash had been changed but there was no coffee. Staff said they'd run out. How do you run out of coffee? I stay at Hampton Inns all the time, but this one won't be a repeat. They're usually my safe choice, so this was a big disappointment.

The employees were very accommodating about the room problems, and it was easy to get the wrong room type corrected. I had reserved a tub room but got a shower instead. The replacement room had a damp, moldy smell and a wall that looked damaged, presumably by water, so I had to move again. I doubt the hotel has maintenance staff on site.

Emily at the front desk greeted me warmly and was so kind. She answered all my questions and gave me helpful directions since I'm not from the area. I had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back.

The breakfast seemed questionable, so I stuck to packaged yogurt and a banana. It was enough for one night, though. Check-in took a while because only one person was working the counter, which I completely understand. I also had trouble getting into the room, and the staff member who helped wasn't very nice. Both the room and the hotel overall felt warm and needed some updates.
