Capri Lodge

The room looked like the recently updated ones shown on the website, and at first glance it seemed nice. But there was nowhere to hang clothes, no closet, and no do-not-disturb tag. Nobody came to make up the room either. The small window AC unit couldn't keep it cool. I also hadn't realized the motel and restaurant/bar were on separate properties. When I brought that up at check-in, I got a rude reply that it was within walking distance. Luckily, Island Gypsy bar was closer.

I was in town for work, though I'll come back for a leisure trip. The Capri Lodge has a lovely view and is a great place to stay. When picking up your key at the Capri Fishhouse, it's worth stopping for lunch and a drink, the place is amazing. Thanks to Teresa, the woman behind the bar, and the man in charge for making it all work.

Buyer beware. Unit #203 is privately owned, and its do-it-yourself wiring was alarming: a ceiling fan wired with lamp cord wedged between ceiling slabs and plugged into the wall, uncovered outlets, and NO SMOKE DETECTORS. The outside dock with patio furniture was coming apart, with an orange cone and extension cord blocking access. I can't see this place passing a code inspection.

The food is good and the locals are great. It's a more week-to-week B&B, with a really nice setting on the back side of the property. The location on Capri Blvd. is convenient too, and everything is within walking distance.
