Debbie at the front desk gave excellent service before the checkout mess, and I hope she can find another job. The owner's rudeness and harassment of customers aren't her fault. I stayed for a full week, and when 11 AM checkout came on my last day, several staff members banged angrily on my door right away. I asked for a late checkout, but they threatened to call the police and have me removed if I didn't leave at the stated time. The man at the front desk cursed me out. When I called later, I learned he was the OWNER. He clearly knows nothing about hospitality. Avoid this place. It's a joke, and they should be ashamed not to be a Motel 6.

The location is great, and they let us in an hour early, but for $239 a night the room wasn't anything special. There was a big dip in the floor right inside the door that nearly took both of us out. The bed and sheets were poor, and we could hear people in other rooms. Breakfast was just a bagel and cereal. Maybe you have to pay a lot more around here for a nicer room, but this one was doable. I wasn't happy about the $85 cleaning charge because we had a service dog. Live and learn.

We picked this place because it was the only available spot within walking distance of the Coast Guard house, where we had dinner plans. The location really is outstanding. But the rooms looked like they hadn't been updated since 1971, and even with it being the height of summer, the price just wasn't worth it.

The room was tiny, dated, and overpriced, with poor lighting that made it hard to move safely around an unfamiliar room at night, especially to and from the bathroom. The “Breakfast on the Go” was little more than a kids' snack lineup: coffee, milk, orange juice, Cheerios, Fruit Loops, bagels, and cream cheese. Also, return the magnetic key or they charge you for it, regardless of any personal data that might still be on it. After an overnight flight from the West Coast, we arrived early and asked if a room was available. It was ready, but we were asked to pay a $35 early check-in fee. I overheard the desk ask the manager, who signaled them to charge us. In over 70 years of travel, I've never had this kind of nickel-and-diming for a room that needed no extra preparation. Later, we learned another guest who checked in early paid nothing. I don't like feeling taken advantage of. How would you feel? I don't usually leave bad reviews, and tend to praise businesses that go the extra mile, but the Atlantic House Hotel did the opposite, so I feel I should warn others. It seems to rely on its oceanfront location and lack of nearby competition instead of quality or hospitality. Look around first. The Atlantic House Hotel isn't a bargain, it's a disappointment.
